Job Title: Graduate student working on my Ph.D. in Physiological Sciences. I will graduate in December 1999.

Employer: US Geological Survey - Biological Resources Division - Sirenia Project

How long on job: 1 1/2 years.

What my job is: I collect and study manatee feces. I can learn a lot about a manatee's hormones without taking a blood sample.

What I like best about my job: Getting to meet people who are also interested in manatees.

What don't like most about my job: Long hours.

Advice for kids who are interested in a career in biology: Biology is very interesting but there are not a lot of jobs in biology. You should also study physics and computers.

Favorite Sports: Hiking and canoeing

Hobby: I like art projects, especially working with clay.

Favorite TV show: Any nature program

Favorite Movie: Princess Bride

Favorite author: Ann Rice

Goal: To do research in a zoo. I would like to be able to link universities and schools with zoos. This would mean a better education for the students and it would provide an excellent location for research projects. Also, zoos could provide educational hands-on experiences for adults as well as for children.
