The day has finally arrived! We are heading to Mexico to dive with Great Whie Sharks!
We will be driving about 1 hour and 20 minutes south to San Diego. In San Diego we will be meeting a shuttle van that will take us on a 2 1/2 hour trip across the border into Mexico and to the Baja Calfornia city of Ensendada where will our live-aboard diving yacht is docked and waiting for us to board! !
We stopped for breakfast but before we could continue on to meet the shuttle van we had to fix a HUGE problem!
Last night as we were testing and packing all of our camera equipment we discovered that the controls on our big underwaer video camera housing were not working! Taking it apart we found that the tiny special batteries in the control handles were dead! Without new batteries we would not be able to use our big video camera underwater! This was our main camera for shooting underwater video on our expedition and it would not work unless we could get the special batteries it required!
All the stores were closed and we had to meet the shuttle at 7:45 am in the morning, before most stores open! IT WAS PANIC TIME!
We were online to see if any stores in the San Diego area would be open before 8 am! We knew that 7-Eleven's were opne 24 hours but they did not have the special batteries we needed! We found a Walmart that was open 24 hours but they did not have the specical batteries either! We found a Home Depot and Lowe's that were open early but they did not have the batteries either! We finally found an industrial tool supply store that opened at 7 am and it looked like they had the special batteries we needed! The problem was we needed not just one battery, but four batteries! Would they have them?!
After breakfast we quickly drove to the supply store as soon as they opened! They had the special battery! They had only 4 of them and we bought them all! SAVED!...But now we had to make sure we did not miss the shuttle and our van GPS navigation computer showed us that we would just miss it!
As we were zooming to the hotel were we were to meet the shuttle we called the hotel. The hotel answered! They told us that they would tell the shuttle driver to wait for us!
Fortunately we arrived only two minutes late and the shuttle vans were still there and no one had gotten on the vans yet! We were actually the first people to board the vans!
We discovered that there were 13 other people from around the world that would be joining us! We were the only people who had ever been diving with Great White Sharks before.
After everyone boarded the two shuttle vans we headed south to Mexico!
