The Mexico Great White Shark Expedition - Expedition Library

Expedition Sponsors

An expedition requires financial assistance to pay for things like food, lodging, transportation, clothing, and specialized expedition equipment. For our expedition, most of the money comes from funds we raise. The money we earn from our school assembly programs and selling our pictures to book and magazine publishers helps us pay for our expeditions. We also have sponsors who support our work in many ways: getting students excited about the nature, marine science, technology; providing us with some of our needed equipment; and providing in-country support. They are listed below. Check them out to learn more about the equipment and services they offer.

Think about past and present explorers and adventurers. Did they have any sponsors or supporters? Who were their sponsors? Why did the sponsors want to help those people and their expeditions? Do you think those explorers and adventurers could have made their expeditions without the help of their sponsors?

Scuba Diving Equipment

AQUA LUNG - This is the world's largest maker of snorkeling and scuba diving equipment. The inventor of scuba diving, Captain Jacques Yves-Cousteau, started this company. Aqua Lung has been a supporter of our school assembly programs, The Ocean Adventure, for years. Aqua Lung supplies us with all of our high-tech snorkeling and scuba diving equipment.

Scuba Diving Expedition Boat - Socorro Aggressor

Aggressor Fleet - The Aggressor Fleet is the ultimate in live-aboard dive boats. The Aggressor Fleet luxury live-aboards explore the world's most fascinating scuba diving destinations.

The Socorro Aggressor is a 135' long, 27' wide, all aluminum vessel aluminum yacht built in 2006. She is powered by twin diesel engines, cruises at 12 knots and has a range of 1,400 miles. Accommodations include 13 double staterooms for 26 divers. All staterooms offer private heads and showers, individual climate controls and TV/VCRs. The large dive deck is the area where divers suit up and prepare their gear. Each diver has his own personal dive station complete with seat and locker. A huge dive platform on the rear of the vessel makes geting into and out of the water easy. For Great White Shark diving this vessel leaves from Ensenada, Mexico and sails 200 miles southwest (about 16-18 hours) to Guadalupe Island.
