We are organizing and testing all our equipment, buying last-minute items, and trying to pack a house-full of equipment (cameras, computer, scuba diving equipment, and clothing into four bags for our airplane trip tomorrow to the Hawaiian Islands and the start of our expedition.

We have our expedition schedule so we have a plan of where we are going and when. Even after all our planning and preparation our expedition schedule can change because of boat, plane, or car troubles, changes in weather or sea conditions, or other things that can happen that we didn't plan on.

Here is our expedition schedule:

WEEK 1 - Arrive in the Hawaiian Islands. During our time here we plan to be snorkeling, scuba diving, hiking, climbing, and kayaking. We will be looking for clownfish underwater and studying the health of the coral reefs and trying to find out if anything is affecting the health of the reefs here. We also plan on looking at Mars one night from a telescope on the tallest mountain on earth! Before the first week is over We board our expedition ship, Clipper Odyssey, in Honolulu, Oahu.

WEEK 2&3 - We will be on board, Clipper Odyssey. The ship leaves Honolulu, Oahu and travels south along the Line Islands, across the equator, then on to French Polynesia. We will investigate the ecosystems of these islands and looking for clownfish. We will also be learning about the people, culture, and history and reporting back to you.

WEEK 4 - We will disembark Clipper Odyssey in Papaette, Tahiti and travel to one of the islands of French Polynesia to explore in more detail. We will stay on this island for a week on exploring the island both above and below water and looking for clownfish. We have not decided which island we will stay on. As Odyssey cruises through French Polynesia we will explore some the islands of French Polynesia and find out which one may be the most interesting for our expedition to go back and explore in more detail.

This is our first time, ever to explore any of these islands. Even though many people having visited the Hawaiian Islands and French Polynesia, not many people have been to the Line Islands. In fact, many of the Line Islands are uninhabited! We will be exploring these remote and mysterious islands and showing you why these islands are so special. On an expedition nothing ever goes completely as we have planned, so we hope that the only surprises we have are good ones.

Welcome to the start of this year's adventure,
The Looking for Nemo Expedition!
